Role Purpose:

The primary responsibility of the Customs Clearance Specialist is to electronically fulfill customs entry requirements for European Road Operations in response to client requests. This includes managing customs documentation while adhering to both company policies and external customs regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing customer documentation to ensure all necessary data is complete before initiating customs clearance, including EORI, commodity codes, and tariff information.
  • Submitting customs declarations to HMRC using designated software.
  • Communicating with customers to gather clearance instructions and required information for customs declarations.
  • Utilizing applications like CustomsHub and eAuth for effective communication and information gathering.
  • Submitting transit declarations to HMRC as needed.
  • Resolving rejected entries through problem-solving and collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Engaging with the Team Leader to address any issues within the team.
  • Ensuring accuracy in entries and calculating VAT/DUTIES when necessary.
  • Maintaining compliance with standard operating procedures for Customs and AEO processes.
  • Directly liaising with the UK Customs Manager and relevant customs authorities.
  • Staying informed on topics impacting the customs department.
  • Exemplifying DACHSER values in daily work.
