Highways Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Highways Manager to join our team at Shared Services Partnership. As a key member of our Highways Management Team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and improvement of our highway assets, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of people and goods.
In this role, you will work closely with our Service Contractor to identify and implement improvements to the network, exploring new ways of working with partners and the supply chain to enhance our service delivery. You will also lead a team of up to 50 staff, providing strategic leadership and guidance to ensure the successful delivery of reactive and proactive highway maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:- Oversee the maintenance and improvement of highway assets, ensuring compliance with Health and Safety regulations and Highway Law.
- Lead a team of up to 50 staff, providing strategic leadership and guidance to ensure successful delivery of reactive and proactive highway maintenance.
- Work closely with our Service Contractor to identify and implement improvements to the network, exploring new ways of working with partners and the supply chain.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors, and community groups.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively, ensuring efficient use of assets and personnel.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships at all levels.
- Good knowledge of the highway environment, including Health and Safety management, Highway Law, materials, and construction methods.
- Experience of financial management and asset management principles, with a good understanding of the political context in which we work.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others, building effective relationships and influencing stakeholders to achieve shared goals.
