About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Livewell Southwest CIC. As a key member of our acute care pathway, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality mental health services to individuals in crisis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as shift lead on a rota basis, coordinating service delivery, prioritizing workload, and providing clinical advice to junior staff.
  • Offer consultation to other services and contribute to a multi-agency forum.
  • Contribute to the training and supervision of others, including mentoring students.
  • Participate in and chair Risk Management and Professionals meetings as required.
  • Lead on investigations for complaints, complex cases, and internal reviews with management support where required.
Job Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant area supplemented by a post-graduate qualification or specialist training with relevant experience.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Experience working with people presenting in mental health crisis, including those with functional mental health problems and older people's/complex care mental health needs.
  • Strong clinical risk assessment and contingency planning skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment to high-quality care and service provision.
  • Understanding of how a person's physical health can affect their mental state.
  • Specialist knowledge of mental disorders and their impact on physical health.
  • Understanding of National guidelines and initiatives related to the provision of mental health services in an acute general hospital.
  • Understanding of services and their role in the provision of mental health care in the community.
  • General understanding of Continuing Healthcare and the assessment process for this.
  • Sound working knowledge of Mental Health Act (1983), Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
  • Protection of Vulnerable Adults Policies and Procedures.
  • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy skills.
  • Solution-focused therapy skills.
  • Physical healthcare skills.
