Database Reliability Engineer

Up to £50k

Hybrid Working (1 day per week)

Head Resourcing is pleased to be working with a leading organization as they seek a skilled Database Reliability Engineer to join their team. This role will be based at their Glasgow office and will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and performance of their database systems.

As part of the Database Reliability Engineering Team, you will manage all aspects of their on-premises SQL Server estate and their expanding cloud database systems. This will include planning and implementing high-availability, performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning, and ensuring robust backup, restore, and failover processes. You will also play a role in shaping the expanding cloud database system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain on-premises SQL Server estate and cloud database systems
  • Plan and implement high-availability and performance monitoring and tuning
  • Ensure robust backup, restore, and failover processes
  • Contribute to the development of the cloud database system

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, PowerShell, or other scripting languages
  • Knowledge of database design, architecture, and security practices
  • Understanding of always-on availability groups, security, and encryption techniques such as Always Encrypted
  • Familiarity with source control and CI/CD tools, such as GitHub and Azure DevOps
