Job Title: Advanced Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Advanced Nurse Specialist to join our team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work autonomously, managing a caseload of patients within the specialty, while working as part of the multidisciplinary team, delivering individualized and personalized direct patient care.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Assess and recognize emergencies in the specialty, interpreting information and taking appropriate action, and leading others to do the same.
  • Coordinate the provision of specialist services to patients, both within hospital and/or in the community setting, effectively liaising with multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Develop and run nurse-led clinics, coordinating treatment in conjunction with medical staff, and providing treatment which may include minor surgical procedures for patients.
Requirements:
  • Advanced assessment skills course completed.
  • Independent prescriber according to the Trust's Non-medical prescribing policy.
Skills and Experience:
  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of the specialty, with a wide range of approaches to the management of patients, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning and the ability to comprehensively assess patients for risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Ability to draw on a diverse range of knowledge in decision-making to determine evidence-based therapeutic interventions, which will usually include prescribing medication and actively monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Professional/Statutory Registration:
  • RN1 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register, to hold the appropriate level for the area of specialty.
