Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join our Pharmacy Department at Whittington Health NHS Trust as a Senior Assistant Technical Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and career progression in a busy and dynamic team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support the provision of pharmacy services across the Trust, providing a professional, efficient, and customer-focused service following agreed departmental policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Senior Pharmacy Technicians, rotational assistants, and dispensing medications to wards and other areas.
  • Carry out ward top-ups, dispensing controlled drugs using the electronic Omnicell cabinet.
  • Train junior staff and liaise with all healthcare professionals regarding medicines.
  • Assist the Senior Technician in managing the daily activities in the dispensary, ensuring the dispensary is running efficiently.

Person Specification

  • Underpinning knowledge to standard required for NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or other equivalent qualification.
  • GCSEs in English and Maths, Grade A to C (4-9) or equivalents.
  • Able to communicate effectively with all grades of staff throughout the Trust (verbal and written).
  • Able to organize and prioritize workload, and to meet pre-determined deadlines.
  • Good clear and well-spoken English.
  • Effective customer service skills able to work to meet the needs of customers of the department and to meet the standards of the Trust.
  • Able to motivate self and others.
