Position Overview: As a key member of the Forensic Submissions Team, you will play a vital role in managing forensic submissions within the South West Region. Your expertise will ensure that the highest standards of quality assurance are maintained throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process forensic exhibits while ensuring meticulous documentation and continuity.
  • Assess forensic submissions for evidential relevance and viability prior to dispatching to the designated laboratory.
  • Provide expert guidance to officers and staff on various forensic disciplines and examinations.
  • Promote the initiatives of the Forensic Submissions Unit across the region and collaborate with external agencies.
  • Verify the accuracy of invoices received from laboratories and ensure proper budget coding and account reconciliation.
  • Adapt to a dynamic scientific and legal landscape by recommending enhancements to the forensic submissions process.
  • Research and maintain consistency in regional systems, ensuring accurate information is shared with stakeholders.
  • Authorize submissions to Forensic Service Providers.
  • Compile and prepare DNA hit intelligence packs in accordance with specified requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 / 17025 standards in all duties performed.

Additional Information: All successful candidates will undergo drug testing in accordance with the employing Force's policies. Applicants must have resided continuously in the UK for three years prior to application and possess Home Office approval for indefinite leave to remain.

Role Requirements: The role may involve exposure to disturbing evidence or circumstances, and a medical assessment will be conducted based on the standard questionnaire provided with the application.
