Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess experience within the rail sector; however, we also welcome applicants with diverse technical backgrounds, including those transitioning from military service, particularly from the REME, or individuals with experience in maintaining large commercial vehicles such as HGVs, buses, or trams.
Role Responsibilities
As a Rail Maintenance Technician, you will be expected to adopt a proactive approach in managing our fleet of commercial freight trains. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting refurbishment, servicing, and examinations of the fleet.
- Leading engineering projects and tasks to enhance operational efficiency.
- Participating in the Engineering Services On-Call Roster, providing technical support as needed.
- Updating inventory management systems to ensure parts availability.
- Maintaining accurate records in the locomotive history tracking system.
- Adhering to stringent health and safety policies.
- Conducting audits in accordance with company quality management standards.
- Complying with relevant legislation and rail industry regulations.
Qualifications
To be considered for this role, candidates should possess:
- A Mechanical Engineering Apprenticeship.
- Personal Track Safety certification.
- A valid driving license.
- FLT License (desirable but not mandatory).
- Experience in Crane & Jack Operations (desirable but not mandatory).
Work Schedule
The work schedule for the Rail Maintenance Technician position includes:
- Week 1: Early shifts from Monday to Thursday, 06:00-14:30, and Friday, 06:00-12:00.
- Week 2: Late shifts from Monday to Friday, 14:00-22:00.
