Opportunity Overview: We are excited to announce a unique opportunity for a dedicated and enthusiastic nurse to join our team as a Band 6 to 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in a development role. This position will be part of the UHBW Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) nursing team, with additional responsibilities in nutrition CNS, based at Weston General Hospital.

Clinical Experience: The role offers invaluable clinical exposure at a leading center specializing in the management of patients with complex inflammatory bowel disease, encompassing both inpatient and outpatient care.

Team Responsibilities: Our team is responsible for assessing, reviewing, and managing IBD care, including medication adjustments for over 3000 patients. Referrals are received from general practitioners and other healthcare professionals within the Trust.

Service Offerings: The IBD service provides outpatient consultations, inpatient support, and a dedicated telephone/email advice line for patients. We also manage approximately 1000 patients on biologics, ensuring regular blood monitoring and medication adjustments tailored to their clinical needs. This includes pre-screening and patient education prior to initiating biologics treatment. For hospitalized patients, our team delivers specialized input to facilitate timely discharge.

Nutrition Support: The nutrition aspect of this role involves supporting patients requiring enteral and parenteral nutrition, with collaboration from the Intestinal Failure team at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

Professional Development: Both the IBD and intestinal failure teams provide exceptional clinical and professional support, continuously evolving to meet the demands of these vital areas of patient care.
