Underwriter Role at Morton Michel

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team at Morton Michel. As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in supporting our direct and wholesale teams with underwriting queries, ensuring that our customers receive the best possible service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deal with underwriting referrals for new business quotations, mid-term adjustments, and renewals in line with agreed delegated underwriting authority guidelines.
  • Handle queries within agreed authority limits, providing accurate and timely responses to customers.
  • Organize and prioritize your work effectively, ensuring that deadlines are met and targets are achieved.
  • Adhere to compliance and regulatory procedures, maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
  • Contribute to the development of training content and promote a culture of excellent customer service, team performance, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
  • Commercial combined insurance experience, with a strong understanding of delegated authority schemes.
  • Proficient in Word and Excel, with experience of using bespoke systems, preferably including Acturis.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • A high attention to detail, coupled with excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, adapt to changing circumstances, and be flexible in approach.
