Job Title: Senior Product Safety Engineer

Job Summary:

Innovate is seeking a highly skilled Senior Product Safety Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our product development team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and integrity of our products throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and analyze the safety of our products, including preliminary hazard analysis, hazard analysis, and system safety assessment reports.
  • Develop and maintain safety engineering evidence to support product certification, including SSARs, HA reports, Fault Tree Analysis, and Event Tree Analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety engineering evidence supports acceptable product design safety certification.
  • Conduct risk assessments for emergent issues and support product development teams in safety assessments for continued airworthiness.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to agree on delivery timescales and allocate tasks to qualified team members.
  • Manage personnel responsibilities, including performance and career development, and collaborate with executive and product integrity teams to ensure qualified personnel availability.

Requirements:

  • HND/HNC/Degree in a STEM subject or relevant experience.
  • Experience in safety engineering with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge in aerospace/aeronautical engineering, systems or mechanical engineering, and safety engineering in military airborne platform design.
  • Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., UK Regulatory Framework, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, Mil-Std-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, EN).
  • Experience with safety toolsets (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis+, Reliability Workbench, Goal Structured Notation (GSN)).
  • Ability to engage with senior technical and engineering leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills.
