About the Role

Innovate is seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our safety engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of our products throughout their lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze the safety of aircraft, systems, and sub-systems to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Generate and review safety reports, including System Safety Assessment Reports (SSARs) and Hazard Analysis (HA) reports, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain hazard logs for platforms and support products, and generate safety assessments and design justifications.
  • Review certification evidence for platform/support products and generate safety arguments to support certification.
  • Conduct risk assessments for emergent issues and support the safety assessment of Typhoon Platform System/Sub-System areas for continued airworthiness.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers to agree on delivery timescales and allocate tasks to qualified team members.
  • Manage personnel responsibilities, including performance and career development, and collaborate with executive and product integrity teams to ensure qualified personnel availability.

Requirements

  • HND/HNC/Degree in a STEM subject or relevant experience.
  • Experience in safety engineering with strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong self-motivation and effective verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge in aerospace/aeronautical engineering, systems or mechanical engineering, and safety engineering in military airborne platform design.
  • Familiarity with safety standards (e.g., UK Regulatory Framework, Def-Stan 00-55/00-56, Mil-Std-882, DO-178, DO-254, ARP 4754, ARP 4761, EN).
  • Experience with safety toolsets (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis+, Reliability Workbench, Goal Structured Notation (GSN)).
  • Ability to engage with senior technical and engineering leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership skills.
