We are seeking a highly skilled Product Safety Engineer to join our team at BAE Systems. As a key member of our Product Integrity Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and integrity of our products and services throughout their engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate and assess the safety of aircraft systems and sub-systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain safety assessment reports, hazard logs, and other critical documentation to support certification and qualification processes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and program management, to ensure safety engineering evidence supports acceptable safety certification of products.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify potential safety issues, developing mitigation strategies to ensure continued airworthiness and product integrity.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with senior technical and engineering leaders, as well as external partners and stakeholders, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Hold a degree in a STEM subject or equivalent, with relevant experience in safety engineering and critical thinking.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and experience of safety standards, including UK regulatory frameworks, Def-Stan 00-55/ 00-56, and Mil-Std-882.
- Working knowledge of safety toolsets, including Fault Tree Analysis + and Reliability Workbench.
- Ability to lead and influence technical aspects and acceptability of product safety in a through-life capacity.
