About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medicines Optimisation Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safe and effective use of medicines across primary and secondary care settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage challenging situations and inspire colleagues to deliver exceptional service.
  • Leverage your experience working within a complex, matrix-structured environment within a large national organization.
  • Demonstrate proven expertise in relevant Medicines Use Safety (MUS) workstreams, including Patient Group Directions (PGDs).

Knowledge and Skills

Essential Requirements

  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Medicines Optimisation principles within both primary and secondary care.
  • Demonstrate a clear grasp of programme and project management methodologies.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NHS policies and their practical application across primary, secondary, and tertiary care settings. This includes a thorough understanding of the relationships between the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), National Health Service England (NHSE), providers, and commissioners.

Desirable Requirements

  • Prior experience using WordPress or similar content management systems (e.g., Drupal) for publishing webpages. Familiarity with best practices in online publishing is advantageous.
  • Existing knowledge of the NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service and its role in delivering Medicines Optimisation, Medication Safety, and Medicines Governance.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages and other tools that support efficient national team operations (e.g., MS Teams, MS SharePoint, NHS Futures).
