Key Responsibilities:
Care and Education:
Ensure all team members adhere to the established care model, utilizing Positive Behavior Support (PBS) to minimize restrictive interventions and foster consistent care and therapeutic relationships. Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in, develop, and sign their behavioral support plans. Provide 1:1 talk time for students, ensuring it is documented in their files. Share insights and information to enhance care and education delivery during team meetings and relevant discussions. Maintain up-to-date and comprehensive care and education plans for students, ensuring they are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely) and evaluated monthly. Ensure compliance with prescribed behavioral and medical interventions and support their implementation. Promote awareness of healthier lifestyle choices through student health and well-being files, addressing any physical health issues promptly. Collaborate with all stakeholders to effectively plan and staff internal and external activities, documenting student decisions regarding participation. Provide leadership to the support team, working collaboratively with service managers and multidisciplinary teams to enhance student well-being and outcomes. Participate in the induction program for new staff, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported. Facilitate effective communication within clinical and educational teams, ensuring the smooth transfer of key information. Foster positive relationships with relatives and caregivers to enhance their understanding and involvement in student care and education. Work collaboratively to improve student attendance at educational activities. Liaise with external agencies while respecting service user confidentiality. Ensure all student records are accurate, factual, and reflect progress. Prepare required reports accurately and timely, providing support and training to staff as needed. Offer debrief forms to students after incidents requiring safe holds and ensure all outcomes are recorded. Support staff debriefs by gathering relevant information post-incident and adhering to the debrief process. Actively participate in all relevant meetings and reviews. Maintain high standards of care during procedures, including safe medication storage and administration. Ensure students' rights are protected under relevant legislation and recorded monthly. Stay current with mandatory training and ensure compliance among supported staff. Report any complaints or health and safety concerns following established procedures.Managerial:
Ensure appropriate staffing levels across all shifts and manage the rota in accordance with student funding. Manage staff attendance and punctuality effectively. Engage positively in the appraisal process. Support and manage staff through their appraisal processes. Understand and meet organizational and regulatory standards. Ensure adherence to staff break policies and other protocols. Verify compliance with documentation and uniform policies for all staff. Direct others to share resources and minimize costs. Act as deputy in the absence of a Service Manager as required.Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years' experience in Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or Learning Disability care sectors. Registration with Social Care Wales (SCW) is required. QCF level 5 or willingness to achieve within 6 months of employment. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. High educational standards in numeracy and literacy. Experience in multi-site or multi-department management. Understanding of HR practices and policies. Strong interpersonal skills to manage and develop staff effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Valid Driving License. Ability to participate in On-Call Rota.All staff in services registered with Care Inspectorate for Wales (CIW) must register with Social Care Wales and be prepared to complete necessary qualifications.
