Job Description

At SGS, we are seeking a highly skilled Flameproof Certification Engineer to join our team of experts in the field of electrical and mechanical equipment assessment and certification.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of equipment designs to ensure compliance with IEC60079 series Standards.
  • Prepare detailed reports and certification documents in accordance with relevant procedure documents.
  • Review and assess documentation, including drawings, photographs, and descriptive materials, to ensure equipment specifications meet relevant standards.
  • Issue certificates describing equipment specifications, including any acceptable design variations, and referencing assessed documentation.
  • Provide certification services for UKCA, ATEX, IECEx, and North American schemes.
  • Communicate with manufacturers and their agents to discuss assessment and certification requirements.
  • Estimate costs for assessment, testing, and certification exercises.
  • Specify sample equipment and special requirements for assessment and certification.
  • Offer expert advice and guidance to government departments, manufacturers, and users of equipment subject to certification.
  • Review, check, and countersign the work of others in specific areas of expertise.

Requirements:

  • Hold a technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering gained through higher education.
  • Have experience in assessing and certifying electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with relevant Ex Standards.
  • Desirable: Hold a degree-level qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
