Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Director of Building Surveying and Specialist Services to join our Building Surveying and Specialist Services leadership team in Scotland. The successful candidate will be central in leading our busy team of building surveyors, CDM advisors, quality control, and PFI advisors covering all aspects of professional and project-related services across the private and public sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, manage, and mentor an expanding team of building surveyors and specialist services professionals.
- Develop and expand the existing client base across key sectors, including private and public clients.
- Manage and support the team engaged on existing commissions, ensuring successful outcomes for clients.
- Develop and improve the performance of the team, formulating and implementing a local growth plan in consultation with senior directors.
- Manage the recruitment, supervision, and development of staff within the allotted teams and liaise with line managers.
- Proactively market Currie & Brown locally and nationally in existing and potential markets, developing new business and clients in line with strategic objectives.
- Participate in bid-winning, including drafting proposals and attending key industry events.
- Implement and monitor relevant administration systems, as well as standards for customer care.
- Manage the administration of the teams, ensuring that facilities and working practices follow company guidelines.
- Undertake responsibility for compliance with the company's health and safety policy and other relevant policies.
Requirements
- BSc in Building Surveying or equivalent.
- Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
- A minimum of 15 years' technical delivery experience gained within a construction consultancy.
- IT skills, including AutoCAD, NBS, MS Project, Outlook, Word, Excel, and other bespoke systems.
- Significant experience and evidence of performing in a similar role.
- Knowledge of local and marketplace.
- Good technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills.
- Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, and willing to work in a mutually supportive environment.
- An ability to win work and deliver business growth.
- A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible.
