Job Title: Experienced Firmware Engineer

This is a full-time, permanent role based at our office in Neath. Marston Holdings is a leading supplier of intelligent traffic enforcement and management solutions and a provider of smart city solutions that deliver high productivity at low operational costs.

We provide environmental sensors, networks, and data solutions to support global decarbonization efforts. Our team drives real environmental change by leveraging real-time data with cleantech technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing firmware for microcontroller devices, such as Atmel, Microchip, Silicon Labs, Nordic Semiconductor, Espressif, and ARM-based platforms in bare metal and RTOS environments using C/C++.
  • Conducting research on electronic components, electro-mechanical devices, RF systems, and embedded microcontroller devices.
  • Investigating the occurrence of failures and bugs in device operation and participating in root cause analysis exercises to develop and roll out fixes.
  • Collaborating with the team to develop and implement low-power RF networks, such as Bluetooth, Zigbee, and Thread.
Requirements:
  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Sciences or equivalent.
  • Experience with developing firmware for microcontroller devices and working with open-source code bases on Linux environments like Ubuntu.
  • Familiarity with computer networks, communication protocols, network configuration with Windows and Linux platforms, and low-power RF networks.
