Embedded Firmware Engineer Role

We are seeking an experienced Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our team at Marston Holdings. This is a full-time, permanent position based at our office in Neath.

As a leading supplier of intelligent traffic enforcement and management solutions, and a provider of smart city solutions, we are committed to delivering innovative products and technologies. Our team is responsible for designing and developing state-of-the-art products, and we are looking for a skilled engineer to contribute to this effort.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing firmware for microcontroller devices, including analog and digital electronics, communication protocols, and edge-computing and wireless communication. They will also conduct research on electronic components, electro-mechanical devices, RF systems, and embedded microcontroller devices.

  • Design and develop firmware for microcontroller devices, including analog and digital electronics, communication protocols, and edge-computing and wireless communication.
  • Conduct research on electronic components, electro-mechanical devices, RF systems, and embedded microcontroller devices.
  • Collaborate with the hardware development team on the technical specifications of embedded devices and electronic components.
  • Investigate the occurrence of failures and bugs in the operation of our devices and participate in root cause analysis exercises to develop and roll out fixes.

Requirements:

We are looking for a candidate with a degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Sciences, or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have experience with developing firmware for microcontroller devices, including Atmel, Microchip, Silicon Labs, Nordic Semiconductor, Espressif, and ARM-based platforms in bare metal as well as RTOS environments using C/C++. They will also have a comprehensive understanding of microcontroller peripherals, including communication standards like SPI, UART, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, etc.

  • Degree in Electronics, Electrical, or Computer Sciences, or equivalent.
  • Experience with developing firmware for microcontroller devices, including Atmel, Microchip, Silicon Labs, Nordic Semiconductor, Espressif, and ARM-based platforms in bare metal as well as RTOS environments using C/C++.
  • Comprehensive understanding of microcontroller peripherals, including communication standards like SPI, UART, I2C, CAN, Ethernet, etc.
