About the Role

Audit Scotland is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Audit Director to join our team. As a key member of our Leadership Group, you will play a critical role in shaping the direction of our organization and contributing to the delivery of high-quality audit services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of a portfolio of audits, frequently acting as engagement lead, and contribute to business management and leadership across the organization.
  • Play a key role in the leadership of Audit Scotland as a centre for excellence, driving improvements in the way we deliver our work and run our business.
  • Manage and control significant financial resources, perform a strategic leadership role for the way Audit Scotland organizes and delivers its work, and engage with senior figures across the public sector.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve audit quality, efficiency, and effectiveness, and contribute to the development of our organizational values and culture.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify and address areas for improvement, and contribute to the development of our organizational policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • CCAB, or equivalent, professional qualification.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the wider public sector, how it works, and the issues it is facing.
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of the business of Audit Scotland and the challenges and opportunities arising.
  • Extensive experience in leading, managing, coaching, and developing people.
  • Discipline, resilience, and excellent project management and time management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and sound judgment and experience to present balanced findings and make convincing and persuasive recommendations.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems and recommend practical solutions, drawing upon your range of experiences, intuition, and professional skepticism.
  • Strategic and creative thinking, solving demanding problems where the answers are not immediately clear.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations and challenging individuals in a calm, professional, and effective manner.
  • Appropriate management planning skills and experience to ensure work is properly resourced in terms of people, abilities, and knowledge.
  • Foresight to identify potential organizational challenges and intervene before they manifest into issues.
  • Significant financial audit experience.
