At QinetiQ, we're seeking a skilled Test Development Engineer to join our team at our Ashford site. As a key member of our engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and collaborate with industry experts.

The Role

As a Test Development Engineer, you'll be responsible for defining, implementing, and altering the way we test and ensure products meet performance specifications. You'll provide technical support to the purchasing and production team and work with design engineering teams to provide test expertise through design reviews and design-for-manufacture discussions.

You'll design Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) test fixtures, supervise their assembly, develop ATE test programs, and commission them, along with the fixtures. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Defining the way products should be tested and implementing that test strategy.
  • Liaising and guiding Research and Development (R&D) to ensure new products are designed in a way that's optimum for testing.
  • Developing standalone test methods, designing and implementing the necessary hardware and software solutions for these methods.
  • Providing training and support to factory test supervisors.
  • Managing change to product testing in a live environment.

Essential Experience

We're looking for a candidate with demonstrable experience in a test development environment and radio frequency test and measurement experience. You should be able to read and interpret electronics schematic drawings and electronic component data sheets.

Qualifications

A degree in Aeronautical, Aviation, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience) is required.
