Position Overview

Venesky-Brown is seeking a Senior Procurement Strategist to join a public sector organization. This role offers a competitive salary and a hybrid working model, requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with essential stakeholders to establish procurement priorities and ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of support and processes.
  • Oversee specific time-sensitive programs/projects and manage one-off acquisitions of equipment, services, and works.
  • Provide expert sourcing advice and market insights to facilitate routine commodity purchases, ensuring value for money and sustainable sourcing practices.
  • Monitor supplier performance against established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), actively pursuing service enhancements and cost savings.
  • Foster strong relationships with key suppliers and clients to enhance service delivery.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the Category Team, contributing to personal and team development initiatives.
  • Work in tandem with Operational Procurement to deliver an exceptional procurement service, ensuring the accuracy of the organization's ERP system.
  • Analyze expenditure data to identify opportunities for consolidation and improved supplier relationships, driving innovation and partnership benefits.
  • Assist in formulating annual commodity plans that align with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Represent the Category and/or Senior Management Team in influential internal and external forums to enhance organizational standing.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or a relevant degree, or significant procurement management experience with progress towards formal membership.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to balance customer needs and organizational obligations.
  • Proficient presentation skills for delivering project updates and management recommendations.
  • Excellent analytical and computing skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to develop performance monitoring tools.
  • A hands-on procurement project manager with the capability to influence cross-functional teams and drive continuous improvement.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in delivering procurement services across a diverse range of commodities.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity and the ability to manage projects effectively while implementing policy changes.
  • Understanding of customer service principles and key performance indicators in a decentralized environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development, such as CIPS Procurement Practitioner certification.
  • Experience in the public or regulated sector is advantageous, along with knowledge of relevant legislative frameworks.
  • Proven track record of implementing new initiatives and successfully managing change.
