Position Overview

Senior Consultant Radiologist specializing in Body and GIGU Interventional Imaging

This role is part of the Imaging, Clinical Support & Imaging Services Clinical Management Group (CSI CMG). The successful candidate will integrate into a well-established team of GIGU interventional radiologists.

The appointee will collaborate closely with current radiologists to enhance the imaging services across the organization. The role includes participation in the existing Gastrointestinal and Genitourinary (GI GU) interventional radiology on-call rota, providing essential GI GU interventional radiology services. Additionally, the post holder will be responsible for delivering GIGU diagnostic imaging.

This is a full-time position. Candidates unable to commit to full-time hours for personal reasons may still be considered, with potential modifications to job responsibilities discussed on an individual basis.

A significant refurbishment of all Trust MRI and CT scanners has recently been completed, ensuring access to cutting-edge technology. The role offers strong connections to academic and other radiology departments, with opportunities for research involvement available for interested candidates. Successful applicants will be expected to engage in both undergraduate and postgraduate education as well as clinical governance activities.

Main Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities of the Role Include:

  • Conducting scheduled GIGU imaging activities, with support for the development of existing services aligned with local population needs and Trust development plans.
  • Providing support for Acute & Emergency imaging services.
  • Reviewing inpatient imaging conducted as emergencies, both during and outside of standard hours.
  • Leading and participating in various multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Contributing to the training of Specialist Registrars within the East Midland Deanery (South) radiology training program.
  • Supervising and training skill-mix radiographers, sonographers, and non-medical staff in their current and anticipated roles.
  • Engaging in audit, research, teaching, and administrative duties.
  • Participating in the interventional on-call rota and assisting in providing weekend radiological support for the Imaging and Medical Physics Clinical Business Unit (CBU).
  • Supporting and overseeing student placements within the department and acting as a clinical educator.
  • Facilitating the delivery of undergraduate education as directed by the departmental undergraduate education lead.
