Imaging diagnostics and minimally invasive treatments are pivotal to contemporary healthcare, and our specialty is rapidly evolving. The advancements in Interventional Radiology have facilitated the treatment of numerous conditions that previously necessitated extensive surgical interventions.

The role of the Interventional Radiology Health Care Assistant is crucial within the multidisciplinary team, providing care to patients undergoing diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. The diverse nature of this specialty ensures continuous learning opportunities. Our department caters to a wide demographic, including patients from Emergency, Medical, Surgical, and Oncology backgrounds.

Work Schedule

Opportunities for both full-time and part-time positions are available across various sites.

Primary Responsibilities

The Interventional Radiology department at UHL delivers care to both day case and inpatient populations through a variety of minimally invasive, image-guided procedures aimed at diagnosing and treating conditions across nearly all organ systems.

  • Assisting in X-ray and Ultrasound procedures, with the physical capability to wear lead aprons.
  • Providing care for day case patients throughout their journey, including pre-procedure, during, and post-procedure care, which involves monitoring, wound assessments, and documentation.
  • Performing cannulation and venepuncture as required.

Job Responsibilities

As a member of our dedicated team, you will deliver a high-quality, patient-centered service, providing individualized care under the guidance of nursing staff. You will have the opportunity to accompany patients throughout their entire journey in a day case setting, from pre-procedure through recovery to discharge, ensuring comfort, reassurance, and continuity of care at every stage.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a caregiving environment.

  • Previous experience as a Health Care Assistant.
