Supporting Learners with Special Needs

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Sandwell College. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized support to learners with SEND, promoting independence and confidence in their learning.
  • Assist learners with daily living tasks, such as personal care and mobility.
  • Support learners with communication and interaction needs, using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) strategies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement personalized learning plans.
  • Contribute to a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting positive behavior and social skills.
Requirements
  • GCSE in English and Maths to grade C or above, or a recognized equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of a Level 3 subject qualification.
  • Experience in supporting learners, staff, or clients with SEND.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the wide range of needs learners have in an FE setting.
