Job Title: Second Chef

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join our team at Barchester Healthcare. As a Second Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality food and beverage services to our residents and staff.

About the Role:
  • Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious and delicious menus that cater to the dietary needs of our residents.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef to manage the kitchen and ensure that all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards.
  • Develop and maintain a warm and welcoming environment in the kitchen, promoting a positive and inclusive culture among team members.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef to manage kitchen budgets and ensure that all food is prepared and served within budget.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure that all food safety and hygiene standards are met.
  • Manage stock control and ensure that all ingredients are stored and handled correctly.
Requirements:
  • City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification in culinary arts or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, with a strong track record of delivering high-quality food and beverage services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with residents, staff, and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer service and resident satisfaction.
  • Good understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements, with the ability to create menus that cater to a range of dietary needs.
