Safety & CDM Advisor

Role Overview

This position is integral to the Capital Development & Delivery division, focusing on projects during the design and planning stages to ensure safety is prioritized throughout the development process.

Location : Flexible options available.

Compensation : Competitive salary range based on experience, along with additional benefits including vehicle allowance and performance bonuses.

Employment Type : Permanent | Full Time | Flexible working arrangements possible.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver proactive and practical Safety & CDM guidance to internal stakeholders and projects, particularly in the design and pre-construction phases.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams and designated CDM Duty Holders to influence safety and CDM standards from the outset.
  • Promote the creation and upkeep of Designer Risk Assessments and ensure Design Risk Management processes are effectively implemented.
  • Support appointed roles such as Client, Principal Designer, and Designer in developing Project Specific Works Information and Pre-Construction Information, ensuring it is communicated to the Principal Contractor or relevant parties.
  • Work alongside project teams during the development phase to establish strategies for managing ongoing design work throughout construction.

Required Qualifications

To qualify for this role, candidates should possess:

  • Experience in health and safety aspects within the electrical transmission sector, particularly related to CDM regulations during the design and planning stages, along with relevant qualifications.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and strategies in an engineering context.
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk assessment methodologies, including experience applying ALARP principles.
  • Ability to assess statutory compliance and foresee the implications of new legislation, with knowledge of the UK regulatory landscape.
  • Strong skills in stakeholder management to foster collaboration across various business units.
