Job Description:

At Digital Waffle, we are seeking a highly skilled Fibre Engineer to join our team on a contract basis. As a Fibre Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining fibre-optic networks to deliver high-speed internet, voice, and video services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Planning: Design and plan fibre-optic network architecture, including the layout of fibre cables, OLT placement, and ONU distribution.
  • Equipment Procurement: Select and procure the necessary fibre-optic networking equipment and materials, ensuring optimal network performance.
  • Capacity Planning: Perform capacity planning to meet the current and future demands of residential subscribers.
  • Installation and Testing: Oversee and quality-check the installation of fibre-optic cables and associated hardware, and conduct optical testing, including OTDR testing, to ensure that connections meet performance standards.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, ensuring high levels of uptime and reliability, and provide technical support to customers, assisting with complex technical issues as needed.
  • Compliance and Collaboration: Maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations related to fibre-optic networks, and collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to source necessary hardware and materials.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Proven experience in designing and implementing fibre-optic networks, with a strong focus on residential deployments.
  • Skills: In-depth knowledge of fibre-optic technology, including fibre types, optical splitters, and related equipment, proficiency in network design and capacity planning, and familiarity with industry standards and regulations.
  • Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and project management experience is a plus.
