Fibre Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Fibre Engineer to join our team at Digital Waffle. As a Fibre Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining fibre-optic networks to deliver high-speed internet, voice, and video services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and plan FTTH network architecture, including fibre cable layout, OLT placement, and ONU distribution.
  • Select and procure FTTH networking equipment and materials to ensure optimal network performance.
  • Perform capacity planning to meet current and future demands of residential subscribers.
  • Oversee and quality-check fibre-optic cable installation and associated hardware.
  • Conduct optical testing, including OTDR testing, to ensure connections meet performance standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues to ensure high levels of uptime and reliability.
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards and regulations related to FTTH networks.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors and suppliers to source necessary hardware and materials.
  • Provide technical support to customers, assisting with complex technical issues.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing FTTH networks, with a strong focus on residential deployments.
  • In-depth knowledge of fibre-optic technology, including fibre types, optical splitters, and related equipment.
  • Proficiency in network design and capacity planning.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, including FTTH Council recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Project management experience is a plus.
