Community Youth Activities Facilitator

Hours: Part Time 2 hours per week – Monday 6:00pm-8:00pm

  • Utilize your working hours towards mandatory placement hours for additional health and social care qualifications (subject to course requirements).

What we seek in a candidate:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to collaborate with young people and colleagues to deliver a variety of engaging activities at the youth club. You should be self-motivated, organized, and skilled in developing enjoyable and safe activities that involve young people at all levels. While prior experience is not mandatory, the successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant youth work qualification within two years of starting this position. Upon achieving this qualification, registration with the Education Workforce Council will be necessary.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Implementing projects and activities aligned with Citizenship, Art, Sport, Health, and Welsh initiatives, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and youth forums.
  • Encouraging young people to participate in the design, execution, and assessment of services and activities at the youth club.
  • Ensuring compliance with local authority policies and procedures regarding safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
  • Reporting any concerns related to grievances, complaints, incidents, or safeguarding issues to the designated supervisor.
  • Completing all necessary youth club documentation in accordance with local authority procedures and policies.
  • Participating in three pre-term meetings annually.
  • Maintaining current knowledge in Youth and Community Work through ongoing training, including three training events per term.
  • Delivering projects and activities that broaden perspectives and promote community cohesion.
  • Engaging in annual Employment Development Reviews to identify training and development needs.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

Experience working with young individuals aged 11 to 24 in various environments.

Desirable attributes include:

Familiarity with the principles and objectives of the youth work curriculum statement for Wales.

The relevant national youth work qualification necessary for registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

A minimum of 4 GCE/GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent qualifications.

Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is mandatory prior to commencing employment.
