What We Seek:

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the capability to collaborate with young people and colleagues to implement a variety of activities at the youth center. You should be highly motivated, organized, and skilled in developing engaging activities in a safe and enjoyable environment that includes youth participation at all levels. While prior experience is not necessary, the successful candidate will be required to complete the relevant youth work qualification within two years of starting this position. Upon achieving this qualification, registration with the Education Workforce Council will be mandatory.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate projects and activities aligned with Citizenship, Art, Sport, Health, and Welsh, including the Duke of Edinburgh Award and youth forums.
  • Encourage young people to participate in the design, execution, and assessment of services and activities at the youth center.
  • Adhere to local authority policies and procedures regarding safeguarding, equal opportunities, and health and safety.
  • Report any concerns related to grievances, complaints, incidents, or safeguarding issues to the designated supervisor.
  • Complete all necessary youth center documentation in accordance with local authority procedures and policies.
  • Participate in three pre-term meetings annually.
  • Maintain current knowledge in Youth and Community Work by attending training sessions, including three per term.
  • Implement projects and activities that broaden perspectives and promote community cohesion.
  • Engage in annual Employment Development Reviews to identify training and development needs.

Experience Required:

Experience working with young individuals aged 11 to 24 in various environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Understanding of the principles and objectives of the youth work curriculum statement for Wales.

Possession of the relevant national youth work qualification necessary for registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).

A minimum of 4 GCE/GCSEs (Grades A-C) or equivalent.

Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) is a prerequisite before commencing employment.
