Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Site Reliability Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting software solutions, collaborating with development teams, and utilizing advanced telemetry data to enhance the performance of our essential systems.

The Site Reliability team plays a crucial role within our technology division, focusing on key aspects such as application performance, reliability, availability, capacity, and overall system health. You will engage with various teams across the platform department to ensure the dependability and observability of our critical systems.

Your work will involve providing innovative solutions aimed at minimizing operational toil and enhancing efficiency at scale for our vital systems. You will interact with a diverse array of technologies, developing solutions, advising development teams, and employing contemporary observability and incident management tools to support the business.

Key Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of SRE principles, including the establishment and management of effective Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to ensure reliability and customer satisfaction.
  • Familiarity with modern observability tools and best practices, such as Splunk, New Relic, Grafana, and PagerDuty.
  • Proficient in programming languages including Python, Golang, and JavaScript.
  • Experience with contemporary software development methodologies and lifecycles.
  • Knowledge of automation and orchestration tools like Ansible and Jenkins.
  • Background in a large-scale, 24/7 enterprise environment where system uptime and stability are critical.
  • Passionate about industry trends, particularly in the DevOps space.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Creating tailored in-house tools using various technologies to deliver effective operational support for IT Operations.
  • Utilizing automation and orchestration platforms to streamline manual processes and reduce operational toil.
  • Designing advanced dashboards leveraging telemetry data and dashboarding technologies such as Grafana, Splunk, and New Relic.
  • Maintaining and managing existing monitoring and analytics toolsets.
  • Providing mentorship to colleagues on new technologies and practices.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of team processes and methodologies.
  • Collaborating with wider platform teams to identify requirements and develop solutions for problem-solving and project advancement.
  • Partnering with IT Operations to facilitate and support the use of critical tools that drive increased value for the business.
