Job Overview

As a pivotal member of our team, the Cost Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that major projects are executed with precision and efficiency. This position involves the provision of timely and accurate project data that reflects performance against established baselines. The Cost Engineer will lead the cost performance reporting for projects, incorporating all Earned Value Management metrics related to essential project commitments and expenditures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creation and maintenance of project cost control frameworks to effectively monitor and manage actual costs.
  • Setting and aligning the project control budget with the agreed-upon baselines.
  • Monitoring actual costs for both internal and external expenditures in relation to the cost control frameworks.
  • Overseeing project accruals and commitments to ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • Developing project forecasts that include estimates for work completion (ETC) and the estimate at completion (EAC).
  • Providing accurate and timely reporting of all project data, including Earned Value Management.
  • Tracking project contingencies and exposure related to risk events and outstanding risks.
  • Managing project change control to maintain alignment with established baselines and control frameworks.
  • Identifying key project trends that may inform future change control processes.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree and demonstrate substantial experience in delivering project control services for significant projects or programs. We also welcome applicants who hold CIMA qualifications.

Experience

Proven experience in cost engineering across a variety of major projects, ideally spanning multiple sectors. Familiarity with the complete project lifecycle, including pre-investment decisions, design development, execution, and commissioning phases, is essential.

Experience in adhering to cost engineering procedures and the ability to establish project cost protocols and standards is required.

Proficient in cost management systems such as Prism and Ecosys, with an understanding of their integration with corporate finance systems like SAP and Oracle. The Cost Engineer should have a solid grasp of business rules and how project funding and performance align with financial account requirements within the project or program context.
