Job Title: Staff Nurse - Pre-Assessment

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic nurse to join our Pre-Assessment Team at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting pre-assessment clinics for patients undergoing surgery, ensuring that they are fit for surgery and identifying any potential risks or complications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-assessment clinics for patients undergoing surgery
  • Review patients' medical history and current health status
  • Conduct physical examinations and take vital signs
  • Interpret laboratory results and other diagnostic tests
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for patients
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families
Requirements
  • Current and active NMC registration
  • Pre-assessment Course
  • Experience of surgical nursing
  • Experience of various surgical specialties
  • Ability to interpret results - Bloods, Observations, ECGs
  • Ability to recognise when to escalate
  • Evidence of supervision/mentoring of learners and junior staff
  • Autonomous working
  • Previous experience managing a caseload
