Bath, Bath and North East Somerset, United Kingdom Wessex Water Full time

Are you an enthusiastic professional with strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail, coupled with a passion for environmental regulations? If this resonates with you, we have an excellent opportunity within our Permits and Consents division as a Permit Assurance Technician.

Key Responsibilities

This position is part of the Compliance team, tasked with ensuring adherence to approximately 1,700 water discharge permits.

A critical aspect of this role will be the Permit Compliance Assessment (PCA), which focuses on evaluating existing permit conditions. This involves thorough review, investigation, and management of these conditions to guarantee their accuracy and compliance.

You will be responsible for documenting findings and reporting on compliance status, requiring meticulous attention to detail and a solid understanding of environmental regulations.

It is essential to stay informed about relevant environmental legislation and provide guidance on permit requirements to the organization, as well as support other regulatory initiatives within the broader Wastewater Compliance team.

The role is dynamic and evolves with changes in the regulatory landscape for wastewater management, including site visits to various operational facilities, both wastewater and supply.

Qualifications

To excel in this position, you should possess strong verbal and written communication skills suitable for engaging with internal teams and external regulatory bodies. A proactive and innovative mindset is also crucial.

Additionally, we are seeking candidates with:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • An A-Level in a science discipline (or equivalent).
  • A keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with wastewater networks and treatment processes (preferred).
  • Experience with GIS software and databases is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • A valid full driving license.

Above all, you should be a collaborative team player, capable of working both independently and as part of a team.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive pension contributions up to 20%.
  • Opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
  • 25 days of annual leave, increasing to 28 with service length.
  • The option to purchase up to ten additional days of leave and sell up to five each year.
  • A healthcare package that allows reimbursement of healthcare expenses.
  • Life insurance coverage of up to eight times your salary.
  • A new electric vehicle available in exchange for a portion of your gross salary, subject to conditions.
  • Cashback and discounts from over 3,000 retailers.
  • One paid volunteering day annually.
  • Enhanced family leave and pay policies.
  • Access to an interactive health and wellbeing platform.
  • Support from mental health first aiders.
  • A £1,000 referral bonus for recommending a successful candidate.
