Overview: Become a part of the pioneering Nechipurenko lab at WPI, where you will engage in advanced biochemistry and molecular genetics research. Our focus is on elucidating cilia assembly and neurodevelopmental disorders through the study of C. elegans and mammalian cells.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated research associate to join our vibrant team. The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of molecular biology and cell culture methodologies, including PCR, microscopy, and CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing. This position presents a remarkable opportunity to investigate the genetic foundations of complex biological mechanisms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct experiments in molecular biology and develop plasmids
- Perform high-resolution microscopy on both live and fixed specimens
- Carry out cell culture procedures such as transfections and immunofluorescence
- Oversee laboratory operations and manage C. elegans strains
Required Qualifications:
- M.S. or B.S. in Biology or a related discipline
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities
- Proficiency in molecular biology and genetics techniques
- Capability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to a minimum two-year tenure
