Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at Polaris Community. As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the learning and personal development of adolescent males with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Learning and Development
    • Assist pupils in learning as effectively as possible in group situations and individually
    • Clarify and explain instructions to ensure understanding
    • Provide individual attention, reassurance, and help with learning tasks as needed
  • Liaise with Educational Professionals
    • Liaise with class teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals about personal education plans (PEPs)
    • Contribute to the planning and delivery of educational activities
  • Establish Supportive Relationships
    • Establish supportive relationships with pupils to promote their acceptance and inclusion
    • Encourage pupils to interact with each other in an appropriate and acceptable manner
  • Monitor and Adapt Learning Activities
    • Monitor pupils' responses to learning activities and modify or adapt activities as needed
    • Provide regular feedback on pupils' learning and behavior to teachers and SENCOs
  • Support Social Skills Development
    • Support pupils in developing social skills both in and out of the classroom
Requirements
  • A minimum qualification of GCSE A-C or equivalent in Maths and English (or equivalent)
  • An understanding of the challenges of dealing with students who may have Emotional, Behavioural or Social issues
  • Ability to motivate and support students in their learning and personal development
  • Ability to work as part of a close team
