Job Title: Compliance and Health and Safety Manager

Our client, a leading engineering company in the Utilities sector, is seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will work in a remote, home-based role, with occasional site visits to the North of England and Scotland.

The company has a strong track record of delivering high-profile engineering projects across the UK and has an established team in place. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced HSEQ Manager who is passionate about working for a reputable engineering company.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise and guide site functions on health, safety, environmental, and quality issues, ensuring compliance with current policies and procedures.
  • Lead the identification of risks and non-compliance, developing actions to minimize these risks.
  • Work closely with operations on high-risk complex projects, ensuring effective risk management and compliance.
  • Review, update, and implement SHEQ policies, procedures, and COSHH registers, ensuring all staff adhere to HSEQ policies and processes.
  • Deliver in-house SHEQ training, recruitment induction, client inductions, and prepare TBTs, ensuring timely completion.
  • Provide expert advice to operations to prepare Method Statements and Risk Assessments.
  • Conduct regular audits, including ISO 9001/45001 and 14001, depot, and internal compliance audits.
  • Ensure operations are compliant with site and staff audits, meeting monthly targets.
  • Maintain the SHEQ management system, ensuring actions are followed up with relevant managers.
  • Participate in sub-contractor audits and questionnaires on an annual basis.
  • Manage the business SHEQ training matrix, evaluating training needs, coordinating training, and planning refresher training.
  • Prepare monthly reports for Directors' Board Meeting and attend management meetings to present findings, trends, and improvements.
Essential Competencies:
  • NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate minimum.
  • Good knowledge and application of Health and Safety in the Utilities sector/National Grid.
  • Good computer literacy.

The salary will be dependent on the individual's level of experience and is not set in stone. Starting salary - £55,000 - £65,000 plus a robust benefits package, which includes 33 days' annual leave, annual reviews, healthcare, pension, childcare vouchers, and more.
