Job Title: Senior Highways Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Highways Engineer to join our team at Marston Holdings. As a Senior Highways Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering and outlining detailed designs for minor and major highway schemes and traffic management projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver detailed designs for highway maintenance and improvement scheme designs in accordance with the DMRB using AutoCAD and Civils 3D.
  • Produce highways 3D Engineering designs from 2D layouts, including existing and proposed models, cross section, long section, and contours.
  • Design and document civil infrastructure components of projects, including highway design [S38/S278] and drainage design.
  • Conduct liaison or consultation with statutory authorities or undertakers as necessary to implement the construction of projects.
  • Provide support within the Highways Team in the management and delivery of services to clients.
  • Production and checking of drawings [AutoCAD].
  • Communicate with suppliers, clients, contractors, the public, and other engineers within the company.
  • Support other Project Centre employees with technical advice on Highway Engineering projects.
  • Give technical advice to clients and potential clients.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.
  • Lead on projects, ensuring PCL and the Highways team deliver the agreed commissions and meet or exceed client expectations.
  • Lead the engineering input at all stages of a project from conceptual design to site monitoring.
  • Support junior staff with their training and development.
  • Check output produced by other staff in terms of reports/drawings etc.

Person Specification:

  • Accredited degree in Civil Engineering [or equivalent].
  • In-depth understanding of Highway Design and standards.
  • Knowledge of engineering design, related legislation, contract procurement, and contract administration.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of developing feasibility and preliminary design to traffic/local roads problems.
  • Knowledge or awareness of walking & cycling design, traffic calming, Healthy Streets, junction design, and carriageway renewal design.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Health and Safety, including CDM responsibilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant technical / industry / TFL standards.
  • Good project management skills and financial management.
  • Strong knowledge of design computer programmes, including Civils 3D and AutoCAD.

What We Offer:

  • Salary: £40,000 - £50,000.
  • Hybrid working with 2-3 visits a week to your local office.
  • Contract: Permanent.
  • Full time, 37.5 hours per week.
