General Manager - Golf Venue

Get Golfing CIO, a sports charity organisation, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced General Manager for one of its larger golf venues. Warley Park, a picturesque venue located in Essex, boasts a unique 18-hole course and a recently renovated function and events suite.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all operational and financial aspects of the venue to meet revenue and profitability targets.
  • Lead and motivate a team of staff, ensuring high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract new members and increase visitor numbers.
  • Maintain and improve course conditions to deliver an exceptional golfing experience.
  • Build on the current functions and events performance to offer an outstanding experience.
  • Manage budgets and financial performance, including cost control and revenue maximisation.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers to drive loyalty and repeat business.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and venue policies.
Requirements
  • Proven experience as a General Manager or similar leadership role in the golf or hospitality industry.
  • Strong knowledge and passion for golf, including golf course management.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make effective decisions.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Onboarding

The successful candidate will be supported through a comprehensive "hands on" training and development programme led by a very experienced team with decades of knowledge within the golf sector.

During the onboarding process, the candidate will have the opportunity to meet the Head Office team, visit relevant local Get Golfing venues, and spend time with core senior managers across multiple venues.

The programme will cover essential topics such as tills, stock control, relationship with other systems, tee sheets, membership structure, and introduction to Hubspot.

The candidate will also receive training on venue presentation, course presentation, starter training, marshall training, front of house training, sales training, and golf check in processes.

The onboarding process will ensure that the successful candidate is fully equipped to take on the role of General Manager and make a significant impact at Warley Park.
