Position Overview

We are pleased to announce a vacancy for a Band 5 Clinical Nutrition Specialist to become part of our innovative and supportive acute nutrition team. This role is integral to our operations and offers a full-time, permanent opportunity.

The selected individual will deliver nutritional interventions to hospitalized patients across various wards, in addition to conducting outpatient consultations and educational sessions for nursing and medical staff as needed. The role also includes significant involvement in the training of students and collaboration with a Dietetic Support Worker.

Key Responsibilities

The primary focus will be to enhance healthcare delivery to the community served by the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. You will hold clinical accountability for a diverse patient caseload, primarily consisting of adult patients requiring enteral nutrition and/or oral nutritional supplements. Outpatient responsibilities will include managing general adult nutrition clinics and facilitating group education sessions.

You will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team that encompasses medical, nursing, therapy, and catering professionals, as well as other stakeholders both in the hospital and the wider community.

The role requires a degree of autonomy, adhering to professional guidelines and standards set forth by the British Dietetic Association, the Health Care Professions Council, and the Dietetic Department of Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

You will operate within established organizational policies, with your work being managed rather than directly supervised.

Proficiency in the Welsh language is preferred for this position; however, applications are welcomed from both Welsh and English speakers.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • BSc in Nutrition & Dietetics or an equivalent qualification with state registration.
  • Postgraduate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) as applicable.
  • Awareness of current trends in dietetic practice.
  • Knowledge of relevant reports and publications.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Training in Clinical Supervisory Skills.
  • Understanding of factors affecting the health of the local population.

Experience

  • Proven experience managing a varied clinical caseload.
