Pricing Specialist Air Freight Job Description

Silver Arrow Recruitment is seeking a skilled Pricing Specialist Air Freight to join our team. As a Pricing Specialist Air Freight, you will play a crucial role in maximizing cost-effectiveness and securing opportunities for our clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive and analyze customer quotations, supporting the Air Freight team with imports, exports, and cross-trade.
  • Negotiate rates with carriers, hauliers, and suppliers, ensuring the availability of equipment and agreeing prices where no tariff exists.
  • Prepare and submit customer quotations and proposals within agreed-upon timeframes, working within our in-house system to create and issue quotations.
  • Communicate with customers to manage and follow up on all quotes, obtaining feedback to measure, analyze, and circulate to relevant teams, adjusting pricing where possible.
  • Track the success or failure rate of quotes, reporting back to management.
  • Develop and build relationships with customers, providing the highest level of service and support.
  • Produce strategic tariffs to ensure an effective workload and keep them up-to-date and relevant.
  • Monitor carrier websites and notifications, promoting continuous improvement and engaging with airfreight operational teams for smooth handovers of secured shipments.
Requirements:
  • Industry and operational knowledge of airfreight (inbound, outbound, and cross-trade).
  • Understanding of how to influence profitability through effective pricing.
  • Able to cope with and accustomed to working under pressure to meet fixed deadlines.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods is preferable.
  • Strong numerical and commercial skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent usage of the computer or operating system (Microsoft Windows) along with other office applications (Microsoft Office) (Cargowise, preferable).
  • Proactive, team worker with excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Enthusiastic, flexible, and self-motivated.
