Job Description

**About the Role**

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Surveyor to join our team at Richard Jackson Limited. As a key member of our Building Consultancy team, you will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day administration of major construction projects and/or multi-site projects, ensuring timely completion and within budget.
  • Collaborate with clients to establish their requirements and brief, and undertake feasibility studies to inform project decisions.
  • Prepare and review tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct cost analyses and provide expert advice on procurement strategies to optimize project outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks, and develop effective cost control procedures to ensure project profitability.
  • Provide guidance on contractual claims and negotiate with clients to resolve disputes.
  • Prepare and analyze costings for tenders, and allocate work to sub-consultants as required.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of the different building contracts in current use, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Travel throughout the UK as required to meet with clients and project stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a Quantity Surveying background at a senior level, with a strong understanding of project management and employer's agent principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of the construction industry, with a degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Strong budgeting and organizational skills, with the ability to work methodically and accurately.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
