Job Overview

Job Title: Principal Engineer - Fire and Explosion Safety

Location: Barrow-in-Furness

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Safety and Environmental Team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for completing DSEAR risk assessments and compliance activities, mentoring and developing junior engineers, and reviewing and producing explosion safety strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct DSEAR risk assessments and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Review and produce explosion safety strategies to mitigate risks
  • Peer review work to ensure high-quality deliverables
  • Conduct risk analysis to identify potential hazards
  • Develop and produce processes and policy documentation for the site

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Experience in explosion safety engineering and hazard analysis
  • DSEAR risk assessment production, including hazard identification and analysis
  • Thorough understanding of Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) and proven track record in implementing business processes

Desirable:

  • Degree qualified in a STEM discipline
  • COMAH - Control of Major Accident Hazards (Safety Case support) experience
  • Site Asset Protection experience and Fire Safety Engineering experience
