Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead DevOps Manager to join our team at Virgin Media O2. As a key member of our Smart Metering function, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our Cirrus IoT platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Support: Oversee the 24/7 operational support for the Cirrus IoT platform, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Incident Response: Manage incident response and resolution to minimize downtime and impact, utilizing your expertise in cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and maintain operational procedures and best practices, continuously identifying areas for improvement to optimize system performance and reliability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Supervise system performance, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for enhancement.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with development and product teams to ensure operational requirements are met, fostering a culture of cooperation and open communication.
Requirements
  • Cloud Infrastructure Expertise: Extensive experience in using Pulumi for deploying and managing cloud infrastructure, with a strong preference for TypeScript as the scripting language.
  • Azure Proficiency: In-depth experience with Microsoft Azure, particularly in managing and deploying resources through Pulumi.
  • Kubernetes Knowledge: Extensive experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters, specifically Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Database Administration: Experience in provisioning and managing PostgreSQL databases in Azure, including backup, recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Load Balancing: Hands-on experience with configuring HAProxy for load balancing in a cloud environment.
Desirable Skills
  • IT Operations Expertise: Extensive experience in IT operations and infrastructure management, along with Public Cloud management and DevOps delivery pipeline methodologies.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven track record of managing and leading operations teams.
  • Incident Management: Strong understanding of incident management and response processes.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
