Job Title: Principal EC&I Engineer

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC. is seeking a highly skilled Principal EC&I Engineer to join our innovative team in Preston, Lancashire, UK.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned EC&I engineer to lead a multi-disciplined engineering team and take ownership of key design deliverables. As a Principal EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that design deliverables are of high standard, compliant with relevant standards, regulations, and customer-specific standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the project's single point of authority and accountability for the EC&I engineering discipline.
  • Lead a multi-disciplined engineering team and work closely with clients' responsible engineering team.
  • Develop key design deliverables such as Block Cable Diagrams, Schematics, Cable Schedules, and General Arrangements.
  • Check and approve cable calculations by hand or in Amtech and lighting calculations in Dialux/Relux.
  • Ensure that design deliverables are technically accurate, grammatically correct, correctly formatted, and professionally presented.
  • Prepare and review quality plans for multi or single discipline work packages.
  • Manage resolutions to technical issues and ensure necessary change control is implemented and address commercial impacts.
  • Ensure designs are compliant with CDM regulations and have designer responsibility under CDM.
  • Present EC&I engineering designs to clients and key stakeholders.
  • Present technical solutions at design reviews and HAZOPs.
  • Develop estimates, define deliverables, clarify scope/exclusions, and develop programme logic at bid/tender stages.
  • Mentor a team of engineers/designers to improve their own skill sets and enhance the company's capabilities.
Requirements:
  • At least 8+ years' experience in industry, with at least 3 years at Senior Engineer level.
  • Ideally 5+ years in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sector preferred.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the UK.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • Chartered Member of the IET.
  • Detailed knowledge of standards, regulations, codes, and directives and how they should be applied.
  • Proven knowledge of the theories, principles, practices, and techniques of EC&I design.
  • Strong knowledge in the production of Technical Files for new products/plant and equipment.
  • Experience of design in accordance with the IET 18th edition (BS7671).
