SPAR is pleased to present an exciting opportunity for a skilled Inventory Financial Analyst to become part of our dynamic finance team. In this pivotal role, you will assist the Finance Manager with crucial inventory analysis, stocktake organization, reconciliation, and the valuation of significant inventory assets.

Your collaboration will extend across various departments, engaging with senior management and finance specialists, placing you at the core of our operational success. This position is vital for enhancing our business performance by identifying and executing efficiencies in stock reconciliation processes and minimizing waste.

You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with external audit standards related to inventory reporting, while also providing essential inventory data to internal stakeholders to facilitate informed decision-making.

In addition to regular reporting and audit activities, you will focus on project initiatives and process enhancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct monthly inventory reconciliations aligned with the General Ledger.
  • Oversee interim and year-end stocktakes for both Wholesale and Retail sectors.
  • Guarantee adherence to all external audit requirements.
  • Manage stocktake processes across various stores, including year-end, interim, seasonal, and ad hoc counts.
  • Collaborate closely with Trading and Purchase Ledger teams to ensure timely updates to stock pricing.
  • Evaluate stock provision policies and their implications on the Profit & Loss statement.
  • Identify potential risks and opportunities within the inventory balance sheet.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned by the Finance Manager.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant Accounting Qualification: Such as CIMA, ACCA, or ICAEW.
  • Post-qualification experience in a substantial retail environment.
  • Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to cultivate relationships with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analytical and Excel Skills: Exceptional analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel, emphasizing attention to detail.
  • Independence and Teamwork: Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
  • Workload Management: Competence in managing workload effectively and prioritizing tasks.
  • Proactive Attitude: A hands-on approach with a positive and proactive mindset.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in Inventory Finance: Previous background in managing inventory finance.
  • Retail/FMCG Background: Experience in a large retail or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) setting.
