THIS IS A FIXED TERM/SECONDMENT POSITION.
An exciting opportunity has emerged for a dedicated and passionate Clinical Support Psychologist to join a multidisciplinary team focused on assisting adults with Learning Disabilities. This role is integral to providing comprehensive support within the community.
The position offers a diverse range of responsibilities, allowing for the enhancement of your professional skills and competencies across various domains. Candidates should possess exceptional communication, engagement, and organizational abilities, and are expected to uphold a high level of professionalism. This role provides invaluable experience working under the guidance of experienced psychologists, making it an excellent opportunity for those aspiring to advance in the field of clinical psychology. We are looking for individuals with prior experience in a similar capacity and a strong commitment to supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will receive regular supervision and support to cultivate their skills in essential areas. Strong communication skills and proficiency in IT are required.
Although the role is primarily community-based, the ability to travel efficiently between various locations is essential. Previous experience in a similar role, particularly with adults with learning disabilities, is advantageous.
Welsh language skills are desirable, and applications are welcomed from both Welsh and English speakers.

Job Duties
IMPORTANT: CANDIDATES MUST OBTAIN PERMISSION FROM THEIR CURRENT LINE MANAGER PRIOR TO APPLYING FOR THIS POSITION.
The team supports adults with Learning Disabilities and their families to address a variety of specialized health needs.
The role will involve assisting the team psychologists in their duties, encompassing a wide range of tasks such as:
- Supporting assessments and clinical interventions
- Conducting literature reviews to inform clinical practices
- Developing and preparing resources for psychological interventions
- Providing training and support for the team in research and service development initiatives
While primarily based within the community team, there will be an expectation to contribute to collaborative efforts with other teams.
Qualifications
Essential
- Upper second class or higher BPS-approved degree in Psychology (or equivalent) and eligibility for Graduate Basis for Membership of the BPS.
Desirable
- Postgraduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology or mental health.
- Experience in specific mental health interventions (e.g., CBT, ACT, Mindfulness).
Experience
Essential
- Relevant experience as a Clinical Support Psychologist.
- Experience in co-facilitating therapeutic groups or psychosocial interventions.
- Proficient in data compilation, conducting audits, and report writing.
Desirable
- Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities.
- Experience in delivering training.
- Experience in multidisciplinary team collaboration.
- Participation in clinical supervision.

- Ability to conduct literature searches and summarize findings effectively.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
