Versatile Engineering Technician

Reporting to: Engineering Manager

Job Purpose:

  • To facilitate the operational efficiency of the production facility by addressing equipment failures and executing maintenance tasks.
  • Enhance site performance through the integration of advanced machinery, improved hygiene practices, quality assurance, and overall productivity.

    Our client is a distinguished independent bakery located in Iver, Buckinghamshire, featuring a cutting-edge automated production facility.

    They specialize in crafting high-quality baked goods, ranging from classic recipes to innovative specialty breads.

    Duties and Responsibilities
    Accountable for both reactive and preventive maintenance, including electrical tasks, ensuring adherence to the highest standards throughout the facility.
  • · Complete maintenance requests from various departments promptly, following established operational protocols.
    · Conduct routine and preventive maintenance tasks within the production area.
    · Respond swiftly and effectively to maintenance inquiries from all departments.
    · Prioritize maintenance challenges, such as addressing equipment breakdowns.
    · Diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform essential repairs on diverse machinery and equipment.
    · Comprehend the electrical specifications of automated production lines, engaging in fault detection and resolution.
    · Execute planned preventive maintenance while maintaining a proactive approach to scheduled tasks and achieving high output.
    · Implement machinery enhancements and site improvement initiatives.
    · Ensure efficient management of engineering resources to minimize downtime.
    · Monitor equipment functionality and take immediate corrective measures to address issues, escalating when necessary. Health and Safety
    · Maintain tools and equipment in safe working order, ensuring the workshop and production areas remain secure.

    · Uphold cleanliness and orderliness in compliance with the company's Hygiene Code of Practice.

    · Adhere to all Health and Safety regulations, ensuring compliance with company and legal standards.
    · Be vigilant in following relevant health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
    · Contribute to a safe working environment.
    · Report any health and safety risks or incidents to the appropriate personnel.
    · Take responsibility for personal safety.
    · Conduct risk assessments related to health and safety, implementing necessary measures based on findings.
    · Assist with audits and follow up on corrective actions.
    · Monitor and evaluate health and safety practices and systems. Food Safety
    · Consistently follow technical procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
    · Report any potential food safety and quality concerns to the technical team.
    · Foster a hygienic work environment in line with company policies and procedures.
    · Allocate adequate resources for the Food Safety Management system.
    · Monitor and assess food safety practices and systems. Requirements
    · Proven ability to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Requirements:
· At least 2 years of engineering experience.
· Recognized Electrical Apprenticeship or equivalent experience/formal engineering qualifications to NVQ Level 3 or higher in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
· Proficient in electrical fault diagnosis.
· Strong problem-solving capabilities.
· Excellent teamwork skills.
· High efficiency and organizational abilities.
· Must possess the knowledge, discipline, and initiative to work autonomously.
· Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics/manuals.
· Demonstrate urgency and a proactive approach to driving continuous improvement initiatives.
· Relevant experience in the food industry is essential.
· Familiarity with three-phase motor drives and other production equipment.
· Experience in PLC fault diagnosis.
· Background in both reactive and proactive maintenance.

Salary: Competitive salary range based on experience and qualifications.
Pension contribution of 3%.
Bonus eligibility after one year.

Working Hours: Standard working hours with specified breaks and weekend availability as needed.
