Position Overview

As a Lead Histology Specialist, you will play a crucial role in our laboratory team, ensuring the highest standards of histological practices are upheld. This full-time position offers a competitive salary based on your experience and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Utilize your extensive knowledge of histology to mentor and guide junior staff members.
  • Supervise and execute routine histological procedures such as dissection, microtomy, embedding, and manual coverslipping.
  • Maintain meticulous records of specimens, results, reagents, and laboratory supplies.
  • Collaborate with the organization to evaluate and validate new histology equipment.
  • Have the opportunity to pursue management qualifications or higher specialization in cellular pathology if desired.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of quality management systems necessary for accreditation.

Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this position, you will need:

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Relevant laboratory experience in histology and multidisciplinary biomedical science.
  • A strong foundation in histological techniques, ideally with dissection experience.
  • Proficiency in various analytical equipment and techniques.
  • A comprehensive understanding of laboratory operations and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster positive relationships in a laboratory setting.
  • A proactive and motivated approach, capable of managing multiple tasks effectively.
